Chanel's iconic Logo is made up of two capital letters "C" overlapping back to back, reflecting the ultimate simple design concept, as if it contains endless reverie.
The Logo was designed by its founder, Coco Chanel, in 1925 and has been used ever since. There are three different theories about how the Logo was inspired. One is that it was inspired by the glass Windows of Aubazine Church, where Coco Chanel spent her childhood. The other is that Coco Chanel came across a Renaissance double C at a party and "fell in love at first sight", which eventually led to the design of the Logo. The last theory, which has been the most widely accepted for years, is that early in Coco Chanel's life a man named Capel came into her life. He was deeply in love with Coco Chanel and was very supportive and helpful in her career. The writer Justine Picardie has said that the double C in the Chanel Logo is a metaphor for the fact that Coco Chanel and Capelle did not eventually marry, but they did spend a good time together, overlapping but also separated.
